Joe Mertes
PMHNP - BC
Born and raised in Bay County, Joe has always known that he wanted to work in the healthcare field. It was not until he began working in an inpatient psychiatric facility in 2010 that he realized that his true calling was to work with patients suffering from mental illness. This revelation led Joe to pursue his Bachelors of Psychology from Florida State University. From there, Joe enrolled at Gulf Coast State College to complete the nursing program. While mental health has always been his passion, Joe realized that providing exceptional care to patients meant having a well rounded clinical background. Seeking this, Joe joined the nursing team at Gulf Coast Medical Center, where he took part in numerous leadership courses and was promoted to charge nurse and eventually floor manager. Knowing that he wanted to return to the mental health field as he completed his Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree, Joe returned to the inpatient facility that first sparked his passion for this patient population. Now, as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Joe is excited to bring all of his experiences together to help guide you through through any challenges that you may be facing. When he is not working with his patients, Joe enjoys spending his leisure time with his family.
